INTRODUCTION:
My name is Matina Callison, and I am the owner of
Ride and Shine.
I am 27yrs old and I have lived in the Kamloops area for approximately 6yrs. I was born and raised in
Williams Lake, BC where I grew up competing in
High School Rodeo, Volunteered with our local
Child Development Center's "Horsin' Around" Program,
and I was the 2014 Williams Lake Stampede Princess.
Upon moving to Kamloops, I worked at the
Therapeutic Riding Association for 4yrs as a
PATH Certified Riding Instructor and Program Assistant Manager. I left the Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association in March 2022 and started Ride and Shine in April/May 2022. Ride and Shine first began at a facility called "Many Moons", and moved a few months later to a facility in Vinsulla called "Rockin' M Ranch".
Ride and Shine grew rapidly in it's first year, and I am so thankful for everyone who has supported me and helped make this journey possible. I am excited for the Ride and Shine family to continue to grow, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!
THE VISION:
When starting my business, I often thought of what I wanted
Ride and Shine to be; what I wanted to represent and focus my business around... the quote that stuck with me the most was:
"Be the person you needed when you were younger"
Some of the most influential people in my life were the coaches and "horse friends" I had along the way.
I wouldn't be the horsewoman I am today without their share of knowledge, skills and patience. I aspire to give my students as many opportunities, memories and smiles as possible, and I hope they know they always have a family at Ride and Shine.
